Food Bank Appeal 2016

Students and staff at The Weston Road Academy have been busy collecting items of food to support the Rising Brook Food Bank Appeal. Pupils have also been donating their spare change in an attempt to provide a warm meal for a family over the festive period.

A particular thanks to all of those pupils that have been busy collecting spare change during their lunch times and break times.

Progress Leader Mrs Owen commented: “I am very proud to say that The Food Bank Appeal is now an annual event at Weston Road Academy. I am always really surprised and humbled by the response from the staff, parents and pupils. I really don’t think that you can give a better gift than a hot meal at Christmas”.

Acting Principal Andrew Locke added: “We have run the Food Bank Appeal for the last four or five years and the response from pupils and their parents has just grown and grown. We’re delighted to support such a great cause and be able to give comfort to those less fortunate at what can be a very difficult time of the year”.
